LINCOLN PARK (25 Jan., 2008) – It’s late January, the furnace is humming away – doing its best to battle the sub-zero wind chills outside - and here I am on a Friday night, sitting on my sofa, battling a wicked chest cold. What better a time to think of all the stuff I plan to do when it’s above freezing outside and/or I can walk up more than a flight of stairs without a coughing fit.
I set up Run.Mikie.Run. because I like to run and, much to my chagrin, I don’t get to write as much as I’d like. I plan to run a lot in 2008, so I might as well write about it. Blogging is a concept I’m gradually warming up to – being of the school that there are things the world doesn’t care to know. In short, this will not be a “blah blah blog.”
On 24 Feb., I’ll be joining 3,999 other people to scale 1,632 stairs inside the John Hancock Center in the 2008 Hustle Up the Hancock. I finished my first attempt at the Full Race, in 2007, in 19:05. One month to go, and a chest cold to rid myself of in the meantime.
On 01 Feb., registration opens for what could possibly be a major life milestone, the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It sold out before I thought to register last year, so I’m registering early this year… and that way I have time to fully realize that I’m going to run that far at once.
Say goodnight, Gracie.
