LAKEFRONT PATH ( 15 Aug., 2008 ) – After a trip to the orthopaedic doctor and many more x-rays, I officially left the disabled list last Tuesday! Week 18: Training in San Diego

8 Jun., 2008

SAN DIEGO ( 08 Jun., 2008 ) – With 18 weeks until the marathon, I used jet lag to kick my training up a gear this week. I was in San Diego for a work conference at a resort on an island in the middle of Mission Bay. The resort was adjacent to both Sea World and a fantastic running path outlining the bay.

Over the course of three days I managed to run over 15 miles, putting this week’s total mileage – when combined with the June 1 Run for the Zoo 10K – at over 21 miles. My running course is outlined in the picture above. It was a delightful change of pace from my normal course in Chicago, I actually got a tan, and the sea air did me some good.

Next Saturday marks my first long run with the CARA training program – 6 miles. Miles of good times ahead.
